O Massachusetts é um dos 50 Estados dos Estados Unidos da América, localizado na Região da Nova Inglaterra. O nome oficial do Massachusetts é The Commonwealth of Massachusetts. O Massachusetts é o sexto menor Estado em área do país. Só perde para Nova Jérsei, Havaí, Connecticut, Delaware e o Rhode Island. Porém, Massachusetts é o 13º Estado mais populoso do país, sendo o terceiro Estado mais densamente habitado dos Estados Unidos. Apesar de seu pequeno tamanho, a geografia do Massachusetts é diversificada, sendo que seu terreno é bastante acidentado. A região onde atualmente o estado de Massachusetts está localizado foi uma das primeiras a ser colonizada pelos britânicos. A província colonial de Massachusetts foi fundada em 1620. Apenas a província colonial de Virgínia foi fundada antes.
